The High Dam provides electricity for the entire country and created the 500 mile long Lake Nassar |
Day 2 - Aswan
On Christmas Night we took an overnight train from Cairo to Aswan where we visited the High Dam and
the Philae Temple - dedicated to the Goddess Isis, who we would hear more about over the next week or so.

Philae Temple was dismantled and reassembled on Agilika Island, before the High Dam was built |

Rusha orchestrated a play to explain Ancient Egyptian myth of Isis, Osiris, Hathor, Set and Horus |

I just love getting a feel for the area by wandering in the markets.
Some people hate the touting and attention you get walking around, but I love it!

Colourful spices on display in the market near our Aswan hotel. Tanya got some for "special price"! |

I just love wandering in the markets and taking in the varied sights and sounds |

The veges didn't look all that appetising, I must admit |
