From our hotel in Aswan we took a small Nile felucca boat down the river
to a geniune Nubian village where we had a traditional meal.

We had a wonderful "concert" on the boat back to our hotel with singing and Nubian drums |

Day 3 - Aswan/Abu Simbel
We had to get up before dawn today to make the long trip south to Abu Simbel, an amazing ancient temple
which has actually been moved and rebuilt because it would have been "drowned" when the High Dam was built. Despite the
difficulty getting up so early, it was worth it!

I took this photo of King Ramesses II and three gods, "illegally" inside the temple |

|
The 3-hour police-escorted bus trip between Aswan and Abu Simbel was through desert, desert, desert! |
We finished off the day with a short felucca sail. It was very pleasant
but our group was grateful that we were spending the next three days on a cruise ship rather than on a felucca, as many of
the group were!

|
As nice as the 2-hour sail was, we were glad to get off at the end rather than stay 2 days on board! |
