On Sunday we got up early to go to Auschwitz.  It was quite a day and quite an experience; one that won’t leave me in a hurry.  It is disturbing, sickening and mind-boggling to realise what human beings can do to one another and I certainly had tears in my eyes and a churning stomach more than once during the tour.  It’s a trip that ought to be compulsory for each and every human being.  A sort of non-denominational Mecca.  Perhaps then people would view each other differently and we could be sure nothing like this could ever happen again.

The camp at Dachau had this same perverted motto above the gate: "Work makes you free"

The blossom at Birkenau/Auschwitz II was a poignant sight
