Jennifer, Marie and I had been planning Krakow for ages and were really excited about it.
Krakow is as far east as I have gone in Europe and after an extraordinarily expensive weekend in Venice I was looking forward to what would hopefully be a much cheaper weekend!

St Mary's Tower - 239 steps to the top! |
After very nearly not making it to the airport in time due to having a totally blonde day, I was relieved to finally
meet Jennifer and Marie (who had never met until that afternoon but had had plenty of time to get to know each other while
they wondered where I’d got to) at the airport and get on our way.

A bugle has been played from the tower every hour for the last 600 years! Today by firemen! |
Our hotel was in the south-east Jewish quarter of the town and after settling in to our very nice, but cheap!, hotel,
we headed out in search of food and vodka! We found a great little restaurant
called Magma that was happy to serve us food even though it was 11pm and we dined in style on pierogi (dumplings), fish, pork
and lots of different vodkas!
