After that we were sucked in at the tourist market and all bought souvenirs which we then had to take back to the hotel
before coming back for a guided city walk at 2pm. The walk was great, very interesting
and hosted by a friendly young guy with a most extraordinary “steel wool” beard!

The symbol of Krakow is the dragon. These are his bones - if they fall, Judgment Day comes! |
We saw all the major sights, and some minor ones, during
the walk, including Wawel Royal Castle
and Cathedral, heard the story of Krakow’s dragon, the leaning tower, what remains of the town walls, a Franciscan Church with stunning stained glass windows and more.

And U Babci Malina! Granny Malina is our hero! |

His best tip was to go to U Babci Malina (Granny Malina’s). It was
a fabulous little student restaurant with a great homely décor and absolutely fabulous and very very cheap, delicious food!
We just loved the creamy onion soup, the mushroom soup served in bread, the pierogi (dumplings) and most definitely the potato
pancakes which the guide had recommended. Yes, we enjoyed the food this weekend!

Inside CK Browar brewery pub - note the 3 litre test tube of beer! |
After that we went to an underground brewery/pub that he had also recommended, then headed back to the hotel for a
snooze before going out. We had a few vodkas in some bars around a small square
near our hotel and then ended up back at Magma again for dinner! We know a good
thing when we find it!
