Day 1 - Christmas Day
I reckon not many people can say they rode a camel at the Pyramids on Christmas Day! What a
way to start the trip!

Step Pyramid at Sakara, attributed to the 3rd Dynasty Pharaoh, Zoser |

This pyramid at Sakarra hasn't lasted quite so well |

A uraeus (rearing cobra) - divine protector of the King and common in Ancient Egypt |

This woman was hand-making pita bread while her daughter played nearby - and danced for us too! |

A camel wanders alongside the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), built 2560 BC |

The two smaller of the three pyramids at Giza - Khephren (Khafre) and Menkaure |

The camels were a lot more comfortable than I expected them to be |

Tanya on her camel! |

An attempt at a photo of the group on their camels, taken from my camel! |

Celebrating Christmas Day at the Great Pyramid! |

This photo was meant to give an idea of the size of the stone blocks used to build the pyramid |

I loved the Great Sphinx, a human head on a lion's body |

See, I liked it so much I just had to give it a wee kiss! |

The Sphinx sits in a depression to the south of Khafre's pyramid |
